Centralized Backups

During SANS training one learns the term “Defense in Depth”. This phase basically means security at several different levels. This would include defense mechanisms such as firewalls, Virus scanners, Intrusion detection systems, and even backups. One might ask, “What does backups have to do with security”. The answer is; if all other systems fail to prevent someone from destroying a company’s data that company is out of business unless they can turn to their backups
