E-commerce is a constantly growing industry as more people rely on shopping through the likes of Amazon and EBay to procure goods. With these online transactions user trust and privacy is of the upmost importance. This paper will analyze how this is currently done and what the industry is headed to in the future. Since liability in breaches is a major factor with E-Commerce transactions I will try to identify where this line is drawn between the consumer and the seller. I will also discuss the privacy issues concerning the interaction between social media and e-commerce vendors. Lastly I will break down what happens when a breach occurs as far as user trust and financial costs to the business.

E-commerce may be the way ahead, but it needs to be seen to be secure so customers will buy with confidence..using an e-commerce web site is no more or no less secure than using a telephone, and people no longer balk at handing over their credit card details over the phone.
