In part two of this article series we left off after we had gained system level access to the web server via a reverse command shell. It is now time to actually get down, and dirty. From here on in is where we will learn just how one could deface a web page. Please bear in mind that this article series chronicles exactly how it could be done. The whole point of this exercise though is to educate people to the dangers of the online world. I did not intend this to be a “paint by numbers” hacking demo. Should you choose to use this article series to actually deface a web server other then the one in your computer laboratory then you are committing a criminal act, and if caught would be dealt with accordingly. In other words play in a lab environment only!
